With a few months gone by in a blur of moving and dogs and Samantha, Karen figured it was a wonder she had any time or brain power left over to do the few actual duties she had. The radio had sort of fallen to her and it generally ran itself, but there was the occasional audition slash interview needed when someone showed interest.

The radio room was empty -- most of the show slots were empty now, which was something she wanted to take care of -- and it was small, but it was quiet and comfortable. She knew enough now after watching a few shows and playing some music a few hours a day to feel comfortable running things.

This part, she at least had experience in. Interviewing someone for a role - despite it being nowhere near business related - was actually in her area of expertise. It was an expertise very rarely used now, but Karen was taking pluses wherever she could. There were too many minuses in her island life, and though Nick and Sam made her feel ridiculously lucky, she needed a few more positives.
